Well as much as I loved the trip to Belize, I was eager to hit the ski trails. For my first outting of the year, I decided to chase Sean around the Canmore Nordic Center (they’ve got about 5k of trackset trails at this time) and conditions were quite good.
On Sunday, Kathryn, Shauna, Adrian and I decided to venture out a bit further and headed to Lake Louise to ski Moraine Lake Road. It’s such a beautiful out and back and is usually quite well track set and groomed regularly.
It was a warm day and they had fresh/wet snow. Unfortunately the groomers hadn’t had a chance to groom the fresh/heavy snow. Adrian was skate skiing and the glide wasn’t great. Us gals decided to classic…boy was it hard. The waxing was really tough and we ended up with some large clumps of snow on our kick zones. Guess I’m not a pro waxer yet…good thing I have the entire season to work on it :).
Remember, if you’re looking for xc trail conditions, check out Skihere.ca – if anyone knows the conditions, it’s Bob and his gang :).
