Yesterday, I had the pleasure of skiing with a group of very fast boys. Darryl (who just skied 100kms last weekend to raise awareness for MitoCanada – please check it out), Yuri (my favorite Russian) and Brendan. We decided last minute to head out in search of classic ski trails in great shape, and found them in Lake Louise.
We opted to ski the Lake Louise Loppet course and also decided to tack on a few extra kms up Moraine Lake Rd towards the end of the ski. The conditions were amazing. There was sooo much snow – making for some very happy skiers.
For those keen, the trails are in great shape. Some of the single track trails are just skier set, but I didn’t have to worry, because I let the speedy gentlemen set the tracks for me ;). Darryl and I both carried a little extra weight in preparation for the Birkie, and I used this as my excuse for struggling to keep up with their wicked pace :).
What a wonderful day on the trails. Cool conditions made for easy waxing, and we ended up skiing about 30k. I can’t wait to get out there again! Thanks for letting me tag along boys.
