While in Lake Louise, our plans changed a bit due to weather (i.e. 2 degrees and rain), so we opted for a short hike up to Consolation Lake (which starts from the Moraine Lake parking lot) instead of riding up to Takakkaw Falls (we were bummed to miss the amazing switchbacks and the super fast descent).
The hike ended up being a great alternative. With the high bear activity, we ended up syncing up with a couple from the UK and we had a great time visiting on the short 6km round trip hike.
The views are pretty amazing considering you do not actually climb very much, and the trail is very well maintained. It would be a great hike for families.
