Cycling Lake Louise to Peyto Lake

As part of our girls weekend, Kendra and I took the advice of her sister (and bike tour guide) Marcie to ride from Lake Louise to Peyto Lake and back (90kms). We were eager to get doing this ride, but the weather was not cooperating, so after heading to buy full length gloves, and after putting on every layer we brought (including two pairs of socks), we were on our way! When we started, it was literally 3 degrees.

The ride itself is absolutely beautiful, and I highly recommend it on a warm day. It’s got tons of great climbs on the way out, and a great chance to stop at  Num-ti-jah Lodge for lunch on the way out or back. Which is exactly what we did…and we needed the break, we were getting cangry (cold+angry (due to the cold)).

All bundled up

Read this poster...so awesome. I almost bought it.

Up, up, up

After our pit stop at Num-ti-jah, we continued on to Peyto Lake…boy was it worth it. Check out these views.

Sisters?

Kendra just REALLY wanted to go on a hike

After reaching Peyto Lake, it’s pretty much all downhill on the way back and we zipped back to Lake Louise in no time.  On a cold day though, this could be pretty miserable…so choose your riding day wisely!

Once we were warmed up in the sauna at the hostel, we were much happier campers. We treated ourselves to a great dinner at Cathedral Mountain Lodge that night…wow. Such a great meal and atmosphere. They even have S’mores on their menu…obviously, we took advantage of that!

Happy diners!
