With celebrating my birthday in London this year, I decided to take a little b-day weekend trip to Malaga Spain thanks to Airbnb and RyanAir being so inexpensive. One of the best parts of living in Europe is the absolute treat getting to jet off for a quick weekend away.
Staying in the heart of Malaga, it was so great getting to tour around the pedestrian walkways of the old city. The buildings were absolutely amazing…and there were some pretty fantastic eats too. I highly recommend a little Mexican place called Coyotl Cocina. I also enjoyed a delightful Arab bath. All these fun things aside, the real reason I chose Malaga was the cycling.
I was able to book a tour guide and bike through a dandy little company called Bike2Malaga. The cycling was well worth the trip. My guide and I did a 100km (1,000m elevation) ride around the Malaga area. After climbing out of town, we headed out towards Andalucia and the amazing rock wall surrounding that area. We did an outstanding loop – riding through 3 small villages and winding back to Malaga. The entire ride was on small side roads that were such a blast – lots of tight serpentine turns, steep climbs and fast descents. We also saw about 10 cars all day – what more can you ask for?! I highly recommend cycling in this area if you ever have the chance.
On to the next adventure!
